Athletics
Athletics provide meaningful opportunities for student-athletes to grow, set goals, and strive for excellence. Powell High School is proud to offer a competitive athletic program that complements and supports our academic mission.
Our teams promote the values of hard work, teamwork, perseverance, and citizenship—lessons that extend beyond the classroom and prepare students for success in life. Our goal is to help each athlete reach their potential both academically and athletically while fostering personal growth and responsibility.
Student-athletes are expected to maintain good sportsmanship, attend and participate in classes, and show respect for peers, faculty, and staff. To participate in a game or practice, athletes must be present at school for at least 3 hours and 15 minutes that day, in line with Knox County Board policy.
Students interested in playing sports at the collegiate level should begin NCAA Clearinghouse registration by the end of their sophomore year. Not all high school courses are NCAA-approved, so it’s important to review academic schedules with the Counseling office early. Additional information and assistance are available through the Counseling Office.
