Powell High School’s performing arts programs offer students the opportunity to develop their creativity, talent, and confidence through music, theatre, and visual performance. Whether on stage, in the band room, or behind the scenes, students learn discipline, collaboration, and self-expression while sharing their skills with the school and community.

Powell Bands—where music, tradition, and Panther pride come together. Our band programs are an essential part of our school and community, offering students a place to grow as musicians, leaders, and community members. From the energy of Friday night football games to the focus of concert stage performances, our students represent Powell with excellence, dedication, and heart. We strive every day to hold true to the Powell High School motto of "Knoxville's Best" in every aspect of our program.
The Powell Band includes a variety of ensembles and opportunities for student involvement, including marching band, concert bands, winter guard, percussion ensembles, chamber music, and more. Whether competing in contests, performing for local events, or traveling to festivals, Powell Band students develop valuable life skills like discipline, responsibility, and collaboration through their musical experiences.
More than just an activity, the Powell High School Band is a family—a place where every student has a role, every effort matters, and every performance is a celebration of hard work and pride.
Powell High School offers students numerous ways to participate in theatre. Students may join theatre during PAWS, participate in club after school, or take theatre courses during the school day. The goals of each are the same: to introduce students to all of the various aspects of theatre, to encourage an appreciation of the performing arts, to provide hands-on learning, to foster relationships and activity within the school community, and, of course, to put on productions. The Theatre teacher and sponsor is Jennifer Doubleday.
