School Counseling

Professional school counselors are certified/licensed educators with a master's degree or higher in school counseling, making them uniquely qualified to address the developmental needs of all students. School Counselors address students' academic, career, and social/emotional needs by designing, implementing, evaluating and enhancing a comprehensive school counseling program that promotes and helps maximize student success.

Counseling Vision Statement:

The school counseling department at Powell High School strives in aiding all students to reach their maximum potential.  We provide assistance needed for academic and personal development, positive mental health, and effective life skills, resulting in career and college readiness for all students.

Counseling Mission statement:

We, the Counseling Department of Powell High School, with the aid and support of teachers, parents and community, seek to provide for every student an educational atmosphere which fosters intellectual, physical, aesthetic, social and vocational development to the highest possible levels, while nurturing ethical conduct and mutual respect for others.  Through a challenging educational environment, we strive to prepare students to be productive, life-long learners.

The Counseling Office is open daily for students to stop by and talk to their counselor to discuss their academic plan, connect with scholarship and financial aid, address any social/emotional concerns and much more.  Parents and students are welcome to contact their student's counselor to make an appointment.
